DAORAE Korean BBQ Restaurant @ Bayan Point. 04 June 2009
Another Korean Restaurant have arrived to Penang since June 2009. As I knew, Penang island got around 5 to 6 Korean restaurants only. The one at Gurney Sunrise is not bad but the prices a bit expensive. DAORAE Korean BBQ Restaurant, sound like they are expertise in BBQ. Will try their BBQ next times. This round will try the most basic food first, as I like to said, if basics one also can’t handle it…..others food really not dare to try already.

DAORAE

side dishes - my gangs love this tau fu a lot

kimchi - I love this, we refill it around 3 times
A variety of banchan(side dish) had been served, we love the Tau Fu, Kim Chi and vegetables with miyonis sauces. Those that we like it, we had refill it for around 3 times. Is this a bit over ??

Char Koay Kak @ Wah Meng Coffee Shop. 16 May 2009

Char Koay Kak
Not much of Penang Char Koay Kak stall can categorized under nice or yummy anymore. This stall of Char Koay Kak is my favorite stalls. If I go Penang Dam hiking, I will drop by and took Char Koay Kak as my breakfast. The coffee also recommended, , you should have a try if you got pass by here during morning session. This coffee shop always crowded with peoples. If you scare of crowded, you can try your luck during Lunar First or Lunar Fifteenth, normally people take vegetarian on that day. Normally it will less crowded.
You might have a try on the Nasi Kandar or Tik Ban Mee as well.

Canton-i @ QBM. 15 May 2009
I think I addicted to Canton-i already, within five months this is my third visit. This time bring my parents celebrate mother day there. Total bill around RM 67 ++ for three person, kinda expensive. As usual I ordered the 5 “pao” rice. Yummy Yummy. My dad ordered the fried noodle, but I not took any photo shooting while his fried rice have been served due to I am enjoyed my dinner that times…haha. My mom comments the wanton noddle was so so only, then I told her this is the original HK taste. Malaysia style is more oily I think. First time ordered the carrot cake with XO sauces, we all like it so much. A bit spicy but nice. The carrot cake with XO sauces is the most recommended.

Presgrave Street Hawker Centre @ Penang. 09 May 2009
Quite long time never visit Presgrave Street Hawker Centre, due to limited parking lot there. Before revisit there, I totally lost my memory about the food here is nice or not. I order the Ice Kacang, surprising it was tasty than the one at new world food court. Today our main target is Hokkien Mee. As usual I will add on Xiu Yok (烧肉). The Hokkien Mee was not bad, but I still prefer the Green House one. We order another side dish-fried oyster, the fried oyster was a bit “wet” but quite tasty.

奇峰豆腐花 @ Ipoh. 03 May 2009
Last stop at Ipoh. Always heard people told me that the tau fu fa near the Restaurant Lao Wong is nice and special. So we just drop by and have a try. The tau fu fa is very very smooth and not sweet at all, a bit like 山水豆腐花. No harm to try something special, even you might not like it or fall in love with it !!!

Restoran Lou Wong Tauge Ayam Kuetiau @ Jln Yau Tet Shin, Ipoh. 03 May 2009
While on the way go back to Penang, we drop by Ipoh again. As I plan earlier, we go to try the chicken koy teow. Another crowded restaurant at Ipoh. Please be careful when you walking around at the shop, the floor is super oily. Overall not bad, always heard others told me that the shop at opposite is better. Next time if got chances, will go to try the opposite shop – chicken koy teow. For me the chicken, bean sprount and chicken koy teow is a bit normal and quite oily. The fish ball/meat ball is extremely good, it is quite weird that shop that sell chicken , the chicken was so so only and the fish ball is better adn extremely good……….weird weird weird.

Din Tai Fung @ The Gardens, Mid Valley City. 02 May 2009
Actually I want to taste the Xiǎo lóng bāo for this visit since Ding Tai Fung is well known internationally for its Xiǎo lóng bāo. Din Tai Fung was ranked as one of the world’s top 10 restaurants in 1993 by The New York Times. Compare to drangon-i one, if not mistaken(due to quite long times not visit dragon-i), Din Tai Fung one is slightly smaller. The taste was great !!!
I have visited dragon-i with my friend before, seem like most of them don’t know the proper way to having ziao long bao. Here is the proper step to having ziao long bao : Click here

Bukit Bintang Market @ Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur 02 May 2009
One of my favorite coffee shop at KL. We are a bit late today, around 10 am ++ we only reach there. As usual the place crowded with customers. Normally we will go for the right hand side hainan coffee shop (if you face the shop lot), we try to looking for the table for more than 10 mins, seem like we can’t find anyplace. So we decided to find a table at the shop on the left hand side, not really know about the shop name even I have been there for more than 10 times but the left hand side shop is my first visit. Overall not bad, the half-boiled eggs is the best, I believe that timing for half-boiled eggs is very important. Most of the half-boiled eggs we took at normal coffee shop cannot give me this type of feeling may be they are not professional or expert enough. Excellent and tasty. The toast bread kaya and butter is quite tasty as well. The most disappointed is the hainan tea, as I remember the shop on the right hand side, the taste is better. If I not mistaken, sometimes taste is forgetful as well.

IKEA Food Court @ Mutiara Damansara,PJ. 01 May 2009
When talk about IKEA, bear in mind you will thing about everything at IKEA is cheap, big and nice. Just the same for the food served at IKEA food court, portion is quite big with a fair and cheap price. The price is about the same as the fast food at MCD or KFC. I ordered the Poached Salmon, since I am flu during that times. For me the taste was not bad. According my friends the Chicken with swedish lemon sauce and Fish & Chips is so so only. They can’t finish the food due to the big portion, WTF !!!!!

Poached Salmon - RM 12.50

Chicken with swedish lemon sauce - RM 10.40
